Troitsky of Sir George Williams University (later Concordia University) in 1984.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since then, the competition has grown into the largest bridge-building competition in Canada, with over 200 participating undergraduate students. The three-day event consists of designing and building a model bridge out of only popsicle sticks, toothpicks, white glue and dental floss.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of Toronto\u2019s Troitsky Bridge Building Club was founded back in 2017 by Kristina Ma and Jerry Zhai, CIV1T8+PEYs. Since then, we\u2019ve had over 100 team members, and have participated in the in-person competition four times and online three times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With brainstorming beginning part way through the fall semester, followed by design and construction, over hundreds of hours are put into our bridges each year.
